Journal / Wedding photography planning

Room for portraits.
Room for your wedding.

A good photography timeline begins with how you want the day to feel.

Start with the moments you want to be part of.

Think about the ceremony, the people you want to spend time with, and the parts of the celebration you would rather not miss. Share those priorities before allocating portrait time.

Talk about light and location together.

The right time depends on the venue, season, weather, and ceremony schedule. Ask your photographer which nearby spaces will work, and how much walking or travel they involve.

Give the plan a little breathing room.

Gather family groupings in advance, nominate someone who knows the people involved, and allow for transitions. A short, realistic portrait plan is easier to enjoy than an ambitious list of locations.

Keep a weather alternative.

A sheltered terrace, a window, or an interesting interior can offer a different atmosphere. Discuss alternatives so the photographs can follow the day as it unfolds.
